【ご挨拶】
今年(2020年)の夏頃からずっと悩んでいましたが、
このたび"Ovation Custom Legend 1869"を譲渡することにしました。

譲渡に渡っては古いギターであったので、
随分と時間をかけて精査しました。

ギターリストではない私にとっては
ギターを譲渡するというのは経験がなく"困難な経験"となりました。

いろいろと問題点(修理箇所)のあるギターですが、
よき有識者の方の手に渡ることを祈っております。

オークションでは一切述べておりませんが、
非常に"強い思い入れの深いギター"です。

ずっと手元に置くつもりでしたが、
近年の私は公私共にとても忙しく、
そもそもギターに触れる機会が非常に減ってしまったことが主な理由です。

ライブでは数々の"想い出"のあるギターであるが故に、
本体をただ見るだけで楽しかった思い出がいつも記憶から呼び起され、そして
切なかったり辛かった思い出もまた想起されることもたくさんあって、
後で後悔することもきっとあるとは思っていますが、
思い切って処分することを決心しました。

しかしいざギターを譲渡するとなると、
非常に深い箇所でギター本体を分析しなければならなくて、
とても骨が折れました。

オークションではいずれ、
私なんかより遙かにギターに精通した方が
きっと落札して下さることと思っています。

出品が終われば、
当然私の手元から"一切なくなる"訳ですが、
いつの日か懐かしい思い出となってくれるように、
ここに本体の記録を"遺す"ことにしました。

本記事においては、シリアルナンバーなどは
次のオーナー様にさしつかえのあるもので、
マスク処理を行いました。

その他は、
"リアル"です。

世界中の本当に多くのプロミュージシャンに愛されきた
オベージョンですが、
既に絶版となっているこの
Ovation Custom Legend 1869というモデルは
その中でも今もなお高い潜在能力を
秘めているように感じます。

これから古いビンテージのOvationを手に入れようとしている方は
勿論のこと、何かのお役に立てれば光栄です。

またあまりギターに詳しくはなくてもギターという存在そのものの造形や
サウンドが好きだったり興味のある方、この記事内で
多くの画像を掲載し私の"ヘリステージ"=伝承遺産としての"リソース"に
かえさせて頂きたいと思っております。

【譲渡するための備忘録】

今から28年前の1992年製,
Ovation Custom Legend 1869-1 Made in USA。
スーパーシャロウボディーでライブ等では演奏性の高いモデルとなる。

本体のSerial番号は"45xxxx"。
Ovationのシリアル・ナンバーである446001から457810内に
該当するので1992年製であると判断する事が出来た。

当時の新星堂ロックイン鎌倉店（2F楽器専門）にて
翌年の1993年(平成5年6月24日)に私が購入した。

まだまだ使用に耐えられるものと判断しているが，
所有していたOvation Custom Legend 1869は
"重要な修理項目"があった。

【重要項目】
室内動画録音での演奏中サウンドホールの周囲に張られた
ロゼッタ=rosette部分が剥離，
内部のアバロン貝=Abalone Shellが一部飛び散るという"珍事"が生じた。
このテイク↓を数百回たて続けに連日収録していた最中である。

床に飛び散ったアバロン貝は100%回収出来た訳ではなく，
""一部空洞のまま""の箇所が生じた。
(茶色く地肌=ボディ塗装が見えている箇所）
その際はフレットエンド部分の小さなバインディングも外れた。

演奏上は全く支障のない箇所であったので現在まで、
この小さい部品は外したままの状態であった。

15.Ovation Custom Legend 1869 ロゼッタ剥離修理_Repair of Rosetta part's flaking off↓

↑↑
この動画の内容は一切脚色しておらず、
プロフェッショナルの修理業者に委託したものではない。

全て自分が施工した。
後年になってプロにモディファイを依頼することを念頭に
接着剤は定評あるアメリカのフランクリン社のタイトボンド=
"Titebond"を使用し、剥離し易いボンドを選択した。

全体的な施工はプロの方のやり方を踏襲したつもりではあるものの，
ステージや遠目ではまず気にならないが間近で見れば
ボンドの仕上げは甘くロゼッタ円周に"ボンドの形骸"が残存してしまった。

シール・カッティング様の
工芸用カッターなどにて綺麗に円周の汚れを除去出来るかもしれないが、
"そのまま"の状態となった。

"動画"ではかなり荒っぽいリペアを行っている。
しかし普段は専用のクリーナで空拭きし、
"プレイオフ"では大事にケース内に保管していた。

動画の最後に修理後初めての
"試し弾き"をしている音はOP24のプリ・アンプ経由の音ではなくアバウトな演奏の
"生音"である。収録は生音収録ではリミッターに定評のあるSONY HDR-MV1のハンディ動画録音機を使った。

【プロに依頼した修理履歴】
所有してから28年の間，2015年の6月に1度だけ
プロにモディファイ依頼をした形跡がある。

"ケイズギターワークス"という方で，かつて
QUEENのブライアン・メイの"レッド・スペシャル"の
オフィシャル・シグネチャーモデルを手掛けたこともある方。

その際"サドル高"調整用の純正のシムを抜いて貰いネック部の微調整をしてもらう。
抜いた"シム"は手元に残った。

【その他のギター本体の現状】

・ペグ
1-6カ所全て良好であった。

・ヘッド部塗装の剥がれ(何かと衝突した際に出来た傷）
ヘッド内部の木材自体の損傷はないものの，
塗装皮膜が破れている箇所があった。
写真では派手な剥がれに感じることもあったが、
実物を"直視"するとさほど気にならない程度の"打痕"。
(後年に油性マジックの黒で内部材をペイントしたのではないだろうか・・）

・サウンドホール内部
楕円のシール部の下部に"剥がれ"があった。
シリアル№のシールは剥がれもなく汚れもなくしっかり貼られているのを確認できる。
内部の損傷はなく良好に見受けられた。

・フレット部
良好。フレットの減りに関してはローコードの演奏(当方はギターリストではないため）
が多かった為，1.2フレットはやや使用感(8割は残存）
その他は十分にあった。この先も演奏上支障ないと思われた。

・ネック部
演奏上はさしつかえのないものと判断しているが、
ネック裏部に小さなクラックが精査中"一カ所"あった。

・ボディ部
1992年製にしては割と良好な状態を保っている。
しかし，先述した様にロゼッタ周辺の汚れ(タイトボンドによる接着剤の残り）が生じた。
その他、ボディ(サドルから直線に一番下の部分）に2本の薄い透明の亀裂の様なものが伺えた。
触れると若干"当たり"があり，クリア塗装の内部亀裂なのかもしれない。
写真では派手に亀裂を感じるものの、
これもまた精査しなければさほど気にならないレベルのものかと思われる箇所。

尚，他のボディ裏部はとくに"激しい目立った傷"はなく良好であった。

・ボディを含めたその他の傷に関して
その他の経年劣化による白いバインディング側面の
非常に目立つひび割れは全体的に少なく、同時期の同じモデルと比較しても
かなり良好であるように見受けられた。
その他のサウンドホール近辺に見られる
微細な細かな弾き傷やボディサイド、
バインディングに見られる細かい擦り傷、ほかには
ネックバインディングサイドポション部に見られる非常に微細な割れ、または
ヘッドトップやほかのスレ跡などは"28年経過したビンテージ"として
はまずまずの状態を保っていた。

おおむね酷い損失箇所はない判断となった。

・弦高
Ovation Custom Legend 1869に関しては個人的に
トラスロッドを回す機会はほどんどなく28年間，
上記1度だけプロの方にモディファイ依頼をした
だけで個人的に調整した事がない。
弦高に関してもあくまで素人で画像(12f付近)にて精査した。
また、13fと1fを押した際の5f高は"薄い名刺が"当たる"程度であった。

ナチュラルチューニングでの弦の太さは
E1=.012、E6=052での精査。
E6は2㎜、E1は2㎜若干やや上を示した。
やや順反り傾向を感じる。
トラストッド調整でさらに低い弦高は狙えるのではと考えた。

・電装部
四半世紀経過するとOP24は故障しているものが
多いはずだが，出力・イコライジングの可変を含めて良好であった。

【ギター本体の考慮すべき点】

本ギターは既に製造から28年が経過したOvationとなる。
四半世紀も経過したオベーションは知人のギターリストの助言で指板やネック部が
もともと曖昧に接着されている事が多々あり
換言すれば、少し"浮いているもの"も珍しくないとのこと。

これはボルトオン・ジョイント(ボディ内側から2本のボルトで止められており，
今回の内部精査でも確認した)将来ネックを外す必要性が起きた際に，
リペアし易くするためだと思われるが、ときにそれが"仇"となる場合もある得る。

つまりハイフレットでのギターソロなどでのサスティーン音は"相対的"かつ自身が優れた
奏者ではない為，28年間全くもって"未検証"であるという点。

14ｆ以降のすべての弦においての音詰まりは少なくとも
感じられなかった。(購入当初から同じ音に見受けられる）
またネックのヒール部とボディ部分は完全に密着されていると判断した。

ギターに精通していない私は、
プロに"ネック・リセット"を直ちに依頼しなくてはならないという
状態では"ない"と感じた。

しかし、いたって若干のハイフレット付近での"元起き"が起きているのか否かについては、
"未知数の領域"となる。

理論的には、28年経過したギターでは
皆無であるという方が"稀"なのではと邪推している点。

このあたりは自分より遙かに"識者"の方でないと楽器を精査することはまず不可能であり、
判断しかねる部分となった。

【ギター本体以外にオプション品・付属品】

・SKB社/16ハードケース

Ovation社"スーパーシャドーボウル"専用。
実際稼動していたもので外部の金属部は
多少くすんだりサビが浮いている箇所があったが、
おおむね"美品の部類"であった。

銃器ケースとして著名なアメリカ製の
SKBは屈強だがギターのハードケースの場合は一カ所"弱点"があり，
それは"手提げ"=ハンドル部分となる。

一度ローディーが搬送中に折ってしまった事があり，
その部分は千葉県成田市の
"サウンドハウス"にてハンドル部分のみを取り寄せる事が
出来た。金額は定かではないが、確か千円前後だった。
本体専用の鍵は購入当初から"2つ"であった。

特殊な鍵で安いスペアを作ってくれる鍵屋さんだとコピー不可だった。
尚，本体Ovationの純正ケースは既に譲渡済で手元にはない。

・専用の六角レンチ
治具として本体はトラスロッド穴は他のギターに比べ深いため
長いレンチが必要でありOvation専用の6角レンチがある。

・フィードバック・サイレンサー
Ovation専用のサウンドホールに装着するサイレンサーがある。
Ovation単体でのステージ使用ではハウリングには非常に強いが，
過去、音量の非常に高いハードロックバンドの中でフロントとして
本機とともに歌いながら演奏する状況が多々あった際にはとても重宝した。
あえてエレキギターの弦を張り、サイレンサーを装着し
エフェクターで歪ませてバッキング・コードを
ライブで演奏することも可能とする。

Ovationの優れた可能性であり魅力である。

・書類
当時の輸入元の中尾貿易の保証書ならびにマニュアル，
本家Ovation（カマーン）の添付書類は全部で"6通"あった。

届け日数は全国翌々日配達（宅急便のお届け日数＋1日）となる。

ギターの知識の疎い者で精査は骨が折れた。

【 memo to transfer it 】

Made of 1992 years 28 years ago
Ovation Custom Legend 1869.
It becomes a model who performs and is high by the Super Shallow Bowl in live etc.

The Serial number of the main body is "45xxxx. "
It was able to be judged that it was made of 1992 years because it corresponded from 446001 that was the serial number of Ovation in 457810.
I bought it at a branch of Kamakura Shinseido lock-in (2F musical instrument specialty) at that time in 1993 next year (June 24, 1993).
Owned Ovation Custom Legend 1869 had "Important repair item" though it was judged that use was able to be endured still.

【 important item 】

"Rare event" that Rosetta = rosette part in the indoor animation recording put on surroundings of the sound hole while tonguing peeled off, and a part of internal Avalon shellfish = Abalone Shell scattered was caused.

It is while this take ↓ was at a stretch collected hundreds of times every day.

The Avalon shellfish that scattered to the floor was able not to collect 100%, and the part of "" "Like one cavity" was caused.
(part where brown surface of the skin = body painting is seen)
In that case, a small binding in the edge runner mill end part came off, too.

I constructed everything.
The bond that peeled off easily was selected by using Titebond.
In the stage and the long-sight if you see closely though

It ..special cleaner.. ..empty.. wiped however usually, and it kept it importantly in the case in "Off play".
The sound in which "Performance" is done for the first time after it repairs at
the end of animation is not a sound by way of the preamp of OP24.

Collection used the handicap animation recorder of acknowledged SONY HDR-MV1 for the limiter in the collection.

【 repair history requested from professional 】

There are signs where the modification request was done to the professional only one time in June, 2015 for 28 years after it owns it.
The official signature model of "Red special"
of "Brian May" of "QUEEN" before has been handled in "“Kz Guitar Works"".
In that case, the pulling out problem part ..shim of purity for "
..saddle.. height" adjustment.. is fine-tuned.
"Shim" pulled out remained at hand.

【 current state of other main bodies of guitar

・Peg
It was excellent by all of the 1-6 places.

・Peeling off of head painting (wound made when a variety of colliding)
There was a part where the painting film had torn though wood in the head was not damaged.
It is "Look straight" of the extent about which it is not very anxious then in the photograph as for the thing though occasionally felt in a gay peeling off(The internal material might have been done in paint in the black of the oiliness felt-tipped marker at later years. )

・Inside of sound hole
There was "Peeled off" under an oval seal.
The seal of cereal № can confirm there is neither peeling off, is no dirt, and pasting firmly.
The damage of internal was not and was seen excellently.

・Edge runner mill
Excellence.
Feeling (80 percent remains) suited 1.2 edge runner mills enough additionally
a little because there were a lot of performances of a low code (Because it was not a guitar list) for the decrease of the edge runner mill.
It seemed that no obstacle in the performance ahead of this.

・Neck part
There was "One place" though it was judged that it did not hinder
in the performance while a small crack was examining it closely in the problem back part.

・Body
Excellence comparatively for made of 1992 years is kept.
However, dirt (remainder of the adhesive by Titebond) around Rosetta was caused like having done ahead.
Additionally, I was able to ask the body (It is the lower side in the straight line from the saddle) for the one of the crack of two thin transparencies.
There is somewhat" for "when touching, and might be the internal fissure of clear painting.
This doesn't examine closely and be a part in the photograph that seems that the one at the level about which it is not very anxious it though the crack is felt gay, too.

As for other body back parts, "Intense remarkable wound" was not especially and was excellent.

・For other wounds including body

I hear that the ovation that passes as many as four half a century was a lot the thing that
the finger-plate and the problem part are bonded with the advice of the guitar list of the acquaintance originally vaguely and was not a little unusual "One that is floating" in other words either.

Bolt..on..joint..body..inside..bolt..stop..this time..inside..close examination..confirm..future..problem..remove..necessity..occur..repair..do..do..think..enmity..become..obtain.

examining musical instruments closely became a part that was first of all impossible, and was not able to be judged.

【It is optional goods and accessory besides the main body of the guitar 】

・16 hard SKB Co./cases
Ovation Co. "Super-shadow compass bowl" exclusive use.
What was actual operation outside metal part was "Class of beauty goods" a few subfuscs though was part where was floating roughly

There is "Weak point" one place, and it becomes "Brief bag" = steering wheel part for
a hard case with the guitar though SKB of famous U.S.-made is powerful as the firearm case.

Once it had folded while the Roadie was transporting it, and the part was able
to obtain only the steering wheel part by "Sound house" of the Chiba Prefecture Narita city.

The amount of money was about the certainty "1000 yen" though it was not certain.
The key only for the main body is first of purchase to "2".

When it was key shop who made a cheap spare with a special key, it was not possible to copy it.
A pure case with main body Ovation has already been transferred and doesn't exist in hand.

・Special Allen wrench
Because the truss rod hole is deeper than other guitars, the main body is necessary
a long wrench and has six corner wrench only for Ovation as a treatment device.

・Feedback silencer
There is a silencer attached to the sound hole only for Ovation.
It found it useful very much when there was situation performed while singing as a reception desk with this machine in the hard rock band with very high volume in the past a lot though it was very strong in howling in the stage use with the Ovation unit.
It dares to put the bowstring of the electric guitar, to distort the silencer by the attaching effector, and to enable the backing code to be performed live.
It is a possibility that Ovation is excellent and a charm.

・Document
The attached sheet of written guarantee, manual, and head of the house Ovation kamarn)
of the Nakao trade in an import origin at that time had "6" in all.
